| Uniqueness
of Jesus Christ is a well-known truth around the world. Even
the people, who refuse to accept Him as God, know His uniqueness.
He is the ONLY begotten Son of God. Jesus Christ is the truth
and the way to eternal life. He said that no one except Himself
knows and revealed the father. His matchless nature makes
Him unique and cannot be compared to anyone or anything. Though
He came to this world 2000 years ago to save the humanity
as a man, He himself is God – who had no beginning.
Jesus Christ is one of the triune natures of God (God in flesh).
John
3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life”
Matthew
11:27: “…No one knows the Father except the Son
and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him”
John
3:13 "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one
who came from heaven--the Son of Man”
Unlike other avatars
or claims of so-called “god-men”, Jesus didn’t
earn divinity thru His submission to God but He was and is
God from the beginning (John 1:1). It worked other way around
that He was with God and Was God but chose to become a man
to offer the Salvation to the world. He is the second person
of triune Godhead (see trinity) and called as “Word
of God.” No one but Jesus Christ can say, I am equal
with God (Philippians 2:6).
John 8:58 “I
tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham
was born, I AM!"
John 1:1 “In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God”
John 1:14 “The
Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have
seen his glory, the glory of the One and only, who came from
the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus claimed that
He alone is the savior of the world and anyone who is willing
to accept God (truth) will hear Him and follow Him. Any one
who honestly seeks the truth of God will find Him.
John
14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me”
John
18:37 “…Everyone on the side of truth listens
to me”
Jesus lived a perfect
life in which even His enemies and criticizers were not able
to find a single Sin on Him; He lived a sinless life to become
an acceptable sacrifice for the remission of our Sins and
the perfect example for every one of us to follow. Even the
unclean sprits cried, fled and confessed that He is the Son
of God.
1
John 3:5 “But you know that he appeared so that he might
take away our sins. And in Him is no sin.
John
8:46 “Can any of you prove me guilty of sin?”
Luke 8:27 “And
when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man
from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore
no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs”
Luke 8:28 “When
he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with
a loud voice said, "What have I to do with You, Jesus,
Son of the Most High God?”
Unlike any other
god-man, the birth, life and sacrifice of Jesus was foretold
before thousands of years and fulfilled as predicted.
750 years before
the birth of Jesus, Isaiah who lived during the time of King
Uzziah foretold:
On
His Birth:
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore
the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be
with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him
Immanuel”
On
His suffering:
Isaiah 50:6 “I
offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who
pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and
spitting”
On
His Sacrifice:
Isaiah 53:5 “But
he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for
our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon
him, and by his wounds we are healed”
On
His proclamation of Salvation to mankind:
Isaiah 61:1 “Lord
has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent
me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the
captives and release from darkness for the prisoners”
On
His miracles:
Isaiah 35:5 “Then
will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf
unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer and the mute
tongue shout for joy”
On
His burial by a rich man:
Isaiah
53:9 “He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with
the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor
was any deceit in his mouth”
King David who
lived 1000 years before Jesus birth, foretold:
He will be betrayed
by His disciple who ate bread with Him
Psalms 41:9 “Even
my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has
lifted up his heel against me”
He will be nailed
in the cross
Psalms
22:16 “Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has
encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet”
“Truth
is by definition Exclusive or Unique”.
The omnipotent,
omniscient and omnipresent God is an Absolute! Nobody can
replace or equate to God. If that were the case, God is not
God any more!
The question or
search of God should have ONLY one answer like the mathematical
equation 2+2 is always 4! Obviously what Jesus Christ is claiming
is true. “He is THE ONLY WAY TO GOD.” but other
so-called god-men like Krishna and Buddha claims that there
are many ways to God.
Often we hear arguments
like “All paths to the same God” just like different
rivers reaching the same ocean. If we assume the above statement
is true then Jesus is wrong because He clearly claimed exclusivity.
If the same God revealed the path thru different avatars then
one path should not say the other is wrong, it is like God
contradicting Himself. Buddhism is pantheistic and says, there
is no personal God and everyone can reach Godlikeness on his
own. Islam says that Jesus was just a prophet, and not the
only way to God. Christianity says that there is a personal
God, and that the only way to Him is through Jesus Christ.
Hinduism says we are all gods in nature, but we just need
to realize it. If these religions are different paths to the
same place, then why do they contradict each other? Does truth
contradict itself? Think about it.
We often hear people
saying we choose our own path to reach God, as if it is a
personal preference. If we have a choice to make our own path
then it is a man made path. Man made paths can only lead to
a man made god. Does it make sense? How come the all-powerful,
all-knowing and matchless God became a mere preference? It
is hard to get an analogy for God because He is matchless,
but for the sake of argument we assume God as law of Gravity.
If someone say, “well I prefer (or believe) that I go
up when I throw myself from my balcony” Will it change
the truth? Preference or Ignorance will never change the Truth.
We need to take a decision by comparing the merits and trustworthiness
of Jesus Christ with other so-called god-men.
Proverbs 16:25
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the
end it is the way of death"
Acts 4:12 “Salvation
is found in no one else, for there is no other name (than
Jesus) under heaven given to men by whom we must be saved”
The life of Jesus
is not a random incident, all humans right from Adam need
Jesus for their Salvation. People like Abraham, Job and Moses
were born thousands of years before Jesus Christ but yet they
put their faith on Jesus and His cross for their Salvation,
The simple difference is they looked forward but we are looking
backward, In a sense we are more gifted as Jesus and mercy
of God is so apparent and not concealed as it were for our
forefathers.
Finally I want
to conclude with the statement from C.S Lewis
"I am trying
here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that
people often say about Him: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as
a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be
God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was
merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would
not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic
- on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg -
or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your
choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else
a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool,
you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall
at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come
with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human
teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend
to." (C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity, The MacMillan Company,
1960, pp. 40-41.)
Which of the following
better describes Jesus?
Mad man?
Devil of Hell?
Lord and God Who created you and me?
How Hinduism Differs:
Hinduism claims
that every one is god by nature but they need to realize and
elevate their consciousness (to God level) thru rituals, Dharma
and inward looking practices such as yoga and meditation.
Followers were encouraged to find their own truth by their
own experience and self suffering.
Bible claims the
Path of Jesus is open and available to all. The self suffering,
self-control and experience based life will lead into astray
Colossians
2:18 “Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize (salvation)
by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels,
taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without
cause by his fleshly mind”
The practices of
Yoga will treat help the flesh but corrupts the soul which
is eternal
Colossians
2:23 “These are matters which have, to be sure, the
appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement
and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against
fleshly indulgence”
Bible claims that
human nature is evil and not acceptable by the perfect God
Who is full of Goodness and hates Sin.
Rom 3:23 "For
ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”
Rom 1:29 “Their
(Human) lives are filled with all kinds of sexual sins, wickedness,
and greed. They are mean. They are filled with envy, murder,
quarreling, deceit, and viciousness”
I would encourage
you to pause and think what makes more sense and right? Is
it a tough thing to know that our thoughts are sinful by nature?
Just look around and see what is happening around you, Take
a careful look at the morning paper. It is very apparent that
most of the people living without even a glimpse of God
The process of
Salvation (aka Moksha or Nirvana) is becoming a god; it is
totally contrary to the truth. According to Christianity,
God is always God; Man can live eternally in communion with
God but never be a god. One character of God is no beginning
or end. How do we become God, when we have concrete beginning?
Salvation is purely
by the Grace of God, offered thru the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ
on the cross. In order to get saved we need to believe this
with faith. If the Salvation can be attained thru works then
it nullifies the grace of God, and can be demanded.
Justification is
a divine act where God declares the sinner to be innocent
of his sins. It is a legal action in that God declares the
sinner righteous -- as though he has satisfied the Law of
God. This justification is based entirely on the sacrifice
of Christ by His shed blood: "...having now been justified
by His blood..." (Rom. 5:9).1 Justification is a gift
of grace (Rom. 3:24; Titus 3:7) that comes through faith (Rom.
3:28; 5:1). Christians receive Jesus (John 1:12) and put their
faith-filled trust in what Jesus did on the cross (Isaiah
53:12; 1 Pet. 2:24) and in so doing are justified by God.
The Bible states that justification is not by works (Rom.
3:20, 28; 4:5; Eph. 2:8-9) because our righteous deeds are
filthy rags before God (Isaiah 64:6). Therefore, we are saved
by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
Those who are justified
are saved and salvation is a free gift (Rom. 6:23), something
we cannot earn (Eph. 2:1-10).
Titus 3:5 "He
saved us-- not by works of righteousness (good karma) that
we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing
of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit."
Ephesians2:8 “For
it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this
not from yourselves, it is the gift of God”
According to Hindus
god is a ‘Monist’ or “Pantheist”,
which means, “God is all and all is God” So in
a sense everything in the universe is god that also includes
all lifeless materials. Creation and Creator are one in the
same so the followers are free to worship any thing that includes
idols and celestial bodies such as star, moon and sun.
Christian God is
a Monotheist; means God is only one and He is separate from
His creation (Transcended), He doesn’t need His creation
for His survival. As oppose to Monist Hindu god, the Biblical
God is everywhere but not in ‘everything’. . Idols
worship or worshipping anything created by God is forbidden
according to the word of God (bible).
Exodus 20:3, 4
“You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not
make for yourself a carved image-any likeness of anything
that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath or
that is in the water under the earth…”
Romans 1: 22 "Claiming
to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the
immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed
animals, and reptiles"
Romans 1: 25 "They
exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served
something created instead of the Creator, who is blessed forever.
Amen."
Hinduism encourages
reaching God (Salvation or Moksha or Nirvana) through countless
rebirths (reincarnation) and good deeds (Dharma) to eliminate
the Karma. The underlying logic is, at one point man will
be 100% pure to be ‘qualified’ as a god. For a
Hindu, The journey of life is very broad, if they fail once,
then reincarnation comforts “better luck next time”.
"Karma' and
'reincarnation' work like a bank account. It says you can
sin and do some good deeds (like paying money to homeless
or a beggar) to balance the sin. This is called dharma. It
encourages people to sin and spend their wealth to loose bad
Karma. In a sense, money and wealth can buy you salvation!
How do you know
what you did wrong in your last life in order to correct (or
try to) in this life, you don’t know why you are here
and what is your next incarnation going to be. In nutshell,
you are in a pathetic situation that you cannot earn the salvation
thru deeds, because your bad deeds will always surpasses the
good and lead to spiritual bankruptcy.
Bible says there
is only one Life and it is a gift of God, the path to life
is narrow that we need to take our cross and walk along with
Jesus.
Heb
9:27 "it is appointed for men to die once and after this
comes judgment"
Matt
7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate; because the gate
is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and
there are many who go through it"
Jesus is referring
hell while telling the story of Lazarus, according to John
the Revelator the evildoers will be caste into lake of fire.
Totally Reincarnation is denying the Judgment and the sacrifice
of Christ, which is the centerfold of truth.
Mark
9:48 “where 'their (Hell) worm does not die, and the
fire is not quenched ‘
Revelation 21:8
“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers,
the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters
and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning
sulfur (hell). This is the second death."
Reincarnation is
illogical because animals cannot reason. So it doesn’t
know anything about salvation. If all the souls are pre-existed
and are caught up in the wheel of reincarnation, then the
human population should keep decreasing as some souls exit
the wheel by becoming a god, moreover we should see changes
in the heart and mind of people to be pure than before, Don’t
you see it is getting worse rather than better ?
Reincarnation and
Karma has left us with lot of unanswered questions
If everyone is
a reincarnation from a previous life why is the world population
increasing and not decreasing?
If there are new
souls and not reincarnated ones, where do they come from?
And of course very importantly; where did the first person
come from - he or she could not have been reincarnated?
Since each soul
should be progressively purified of evil through their many
reincarnations why isn't the world becoming a better place
to live in?
Do you know India
the birth place of Reincarnation, Why is there so much human
misery in India where karma and reincarnation have been accepted
for centuries?
Do you know what
went wrong in your last reincarnation so that you have been
reincarnated again this time?
If you can choose
your path relatively then How come the karmic law works without
moral absolutes?
If you don't know
why you have been reincarnated, then how would you fix it
with out knowing the problem?
Do you know how
much your karmic debt you owe to God? If good and evil are
same then what is the meaning of karma?
Do you think your
so called good (as per your definition) works is increasing
the debt or decreasing debt?
If animals have
a soul, Can you observe a behavioral difference between two
rats based on moral laws?
Our main problem
is not “What to do?” Our consciousness teaches
that we should be good and love others as we love our own
but the question is how? Many saints, gurus and god-mans laid
out list of ‘do’s and don’ts’ but
nobody lived to prove ‘How’ to follow the list.
However much we try, we always fail and live with the guilt
and misery. Even the Apostle Paul who suffered much for the
sake of God cried out in loud voice
Rom
7:24 “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from
this body of death?”
Rom
7:15 “I do not understand what I do. For what I want
to do I do not do, but what I hate I do”
Because Paul sensed
his inner man is always working against him and force him
to do what he hates (Sin), he called himself as a slave to
Sin!
Rom 7:14 “…
I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin”
Rom 7:19 “For
what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do
not want to do–this I keep on doing”
I believe we all
are in a same situation as Paul; But the Good News is JESUS!
Unlike others He didn’t left us in this world with the
big list of do’s and don’ts rather He Himself
take the human form, fulfilled the list of do’s and
don’ts (called laws of God). For our sins His gave His
life on the cross, and finally He declared the Victory in
the loud voice “IT IS FINISHED!”
What a relief?
Don’t try to live in the world of do’s and don’ts
because the people who gave the list were gone and their tombs
filled with their dried bones because they were not able to
do the same list that they preached to others. Look at the
empty tomb of Jesus; He defeated the death and finished the
work for you. He accepts every one who seeks Him (see Salvation)
Matthew
11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest”
John
6:37 “I will never turn away anyone who comes to me"
